There’s something special about photographing a couple just before their wedding day. It’s a chance to slow down, get comfortable in front of the camera, and capture the little moments that make their relationship unique.
I recently had the pleasure of photographing Aimee & Mitch for their engagement session at Harold Boas Gardens in Perth, and it was such a beautiful afternoon.
With their wedding coming up on 26 September 2026 at Yarabee Valley Estate, this engagement session was the perfect opportunity to celebrate this exciting chapter before their big day arrives.
A Relaxed Engagement Session at Harold Boas Gardens
Harold Boas Gardens provided a beautiful setting for Aimee & Mitch’s engagement photos. The greenery, open spaces and relaxed atmosphere made it easy to create natural and candid images without making the session feel overly posed.
As a Perth engagement photographer, I always want engagement sessions to feel less like a formal photoshoot and more like spending time together while I capture the moments naturally.
For Aimee & Mitch, there were plenty of genuine smiles, laughs and quiet moments between the two of them. Those are often my favourite images because they show the connection between a couple rather than simply creating a perfectly posed photograph.
Getting Comfortable in Front of the Camera
One of the biggest benefits of having an engagement session before your wedding is getting comfortable being photographed together.
Wedding days can move quickly. There are family photos, bridal party photos, getting ready, the ceremony, reception and so many moments happening throughout the day. Having an engagement session beforehand gives couples a chance to understand how I work and what to expect when the wedding day arrives.
By the time Aimee & Mitch get to their wedding at Yarabee Valley Estate, hopefully the camera will feel much more familiar — allowing us to focus on capturing genuine moments rather than worrying about posing.

Their wedding on 26 September 2026 is getting closer, and I’m already excited to see everything come together.
