Some wedding days have a beautiful rhythm from beginning to end, and Aimee and Mitch’s wedding on 26 September 2026 was exactly that. From their ceremony at Yarrabee Valley Estate to relaxed portraits at Core Cider, followed by their reception in Bedfordale, the day was filled with genuine moments, beautiful scenery and plenty of emotion.
As a Perth wedding photographer, I love weddings that allow the day to naturally unfold rather than feeling overly staged. Aimee and Mitch’s celebration gave us plenty of opportunities to capture those candid moments while still creating timeless, editorial-style portraits of the couple and bridal party.
A Beautiful Yarrabee Valley Estate Wedding
The day began at Yarrabee Valley Estate, surrounded by the natural beauty and peaceful atmosphere of the venue. It was a beautiful setting for Aimee and Mitch to exchange their vows and celebrate with the people closest to them.
The natural surroundings provided plenty of opportunities for wedding photography, from quiet emotional moments during the ceremony to candid interactions between family and friends.
One of my favourite things about photographing weddings at venues like Yarrabee Valley Estate is being able to use the surrounding landscape as part of the story. Rather than simply photographing the couple in front of a backdrop, I like to incorporate the environment, architecture and natural light to create images that feel connected to the day.
Bridal Party & Couple Portraits at Core Cider
After the ceremony, we headed to Core Cider for the bridal party and couple portraits.
Core Cider was a fantastic location for this part of the day, giving us a completely different atmosphere from the ceremony. The combination of the surrounding landscape, relaxed setting and natural light made it easy to create a mixture of candid and more intentional portraits.
For the bridal party photographs, I kept things relaxed and natural, allowing everyone to interact rather than spending too much time posing. This usually helps create photographs that feel more genuine and reflect the personalities of the people actually there.
For Aimee and Mitch’s couple portraits, we also took some time away from the group to slow things down and capture a few more intimate moments together.
I always encourage couples to think of portraits as a chance to enjoy a quiet moment together rather than simply standing still for photographs. The best images often happen in between the poses — a laugh, a glance, holding hands or simply walking together.
A Relaxed Bedfordale Wedding Reception
The celebration continued with the reception in Bedfordale, where Aimee and Mitch could relax and enjoy the evening with their family and friends.
From candid conversations and laughter to speeches, celebrations and the atmosphere of the reception, my approach was to document the evening naturally while remaining aware of the small moments happening around the room.
Wedding receptions are often where some of the most unexpected photographs happen. A reaction during a speech, a spontaneous laugh between friends or a quiet moment between newlyweds can become one of the images couples treasure most.
Capturing the Moments That Matter
For Aimee and Mitch’s wedding, my goal was to create a collection of photographs that felt natural, emotional and timeless.
As a Perth wedding photographer, I take a documentary-inspired approach to wedding photography while still helping couples create beautiful portraits. I don’t believe every photograph needs to be perfectly posed. Instead, I like to give couples enough direction to feel comfortable while leaving plenty of room for genuine moments to happen.
From Yarrabee Valley Estate to Core Cider and the Bedfordale reception, every location added something different to Aimee and Mitch’s wedding story.
Their wedding was a wonderful reminder that the most meaningful wedding photographs aren’t always the ones that are carefully planned. Sometimes, they’re the moments that happen naturally when you’re simply enjoying the day with the people you love.
Congratulations, Aimee and Mitch! It was such a pleasure to capture your wedding day and preserve these memories for you to look back on for years to come.
